By the 16thcentury coffee was banned by Orthodox Muslims and early Christians called it the “Devil’s Drink” preferring to stick to wine. This was due to the powerful, who were concerned that the cafes were often gathering places where people would come up with radical ideas while enjoying endless cups of coffee.
